Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST (40.0 hours/week)
Overview
The Payroll Tax Manager serves as the subject matter expert and functional lead for all payroll tax, state unemployment (SUI), workers' compensation, and escheatment operations across Hubbell's multi-legal entity enterprise. Reporting to the Global Payroll Director, this role oversees compliance, tax filings, funding, and G/L reconciliations for 25+ federal legal entities, 250+ state jurisdictions, and 75+ local tax authorities. Working closely with managed service providers (ADP GlobalView / Ceridian Dayforce) and internal Corporate Accounting/Treasury teams, the Payroll Tax Manager also leads payroll tax integrations for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), oversees W-2 year-end processing, and ensures SOX compliance and audit readiness.
Job Specifications- Direct and execute end-to-end payroll tax support, funding, and reporting across 25+ legal entities, 250+ state jurisdictions, and 75+ local tax authorities
- Partner with third-party Managed Service Providers to verify tax funding, audit quarterly/annual filings, apply for tax refunds/credits, and resolve over/under-payment notices
- Support Corporate Accounting with monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax General Ledger (G/L) account reconciliations
- Manage payroll tax integrations for newly acquired or merging business units, including new state and local tax registrations
- Oversee quarterly and annual W-2 processing, wage type mapping to W-2 boxes, and High Compensation Employee (HCE) wage audits
- Monitor federal, state, and local employment tax law changes, updating system setups to maintain full compliance
- Collaborate with Treasury to execute payroll funding and escheatment for unclaimed property
- Maintain internal control standards, complete internal/external SOX audit requests, and secure sensitive employee payroll records
- 10+ years of dedicated payroll tax, auditing, or related corporate tax experience in a large multi-national, multi-legal entity organization ($1B+ annual revenue) required
- 7+ years of experience utilizing enterprise payroll and HRIS systems to create, analyze, and troubleshoot tax data required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline preferred; Master of Science in Taxation (MST) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- Strong hands-on experience with ADP GlobalView, Ceridian Dayforce, SAP Financials, and SuccessFactors preferred
- M&A payroll tax integration experience preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, complex data modeling) and strong analytical problem-solving skills required
