Nottingham Spirk has an immediate opening for an experienced PBC Prototyping Team Manager. This is a unique opportunity for the person who loves the hands-on technical side of PCB prototyping and enjoys people and operations management.  The ideal candidate is located in the Cleveland, Ohio metro area.

Position Summary

The PCB Prototyping Team Manager oversees prototype and low-volume PCB builds while remaining actively involved in assembly, soldering, rework, and inspection. This position requires strong project management, supplier coordination, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage in house PCB prototyping team
• Manage 3^rd party PCB builds from documentation release through final delivery.
• Develop schedules, assign resources, track costs, and communicate project status.
• Coordinate with engineers, customers, PCB fabricators, contract assemblers, and component suppliers.
• Prepare and review fabrication and assembly packages, including Gerber files, drawings, BOMs, and pick-and-place files.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations based on cost, capability, quality, and lead time.
• Track outside fabrication and assembly work and resolve technical, material, quality, and schedule issues.
• Verify documentation, revisions, component selections, quantities, polarity, and assembly requirements.
• Perform surface-mount and through-hole assembly, fine-pitch soldering, rework, repair, and inspection.
• Operate soldering, hot-air rework, microscope, stencil printing, pick-and-place, and reflow equipment.
• Maintain build records, material traceability, ESD controls, equipment, and an organized work area.
• Inventory management
• Train and support assembly personnel and improve build and quality processes.

Success in this role requires a working-manager mindset: taking ownership of schedules, suppliers, documentation, quality, and hands-on execution.

Qualifications

• Ten or more years of PCB assembly or electronics manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on experience with SMT and through-hole hand assembly, soldering, rework, and inspection.
• Experience coordinating with PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers.
• Direct experience with quality management processes
• Strong team and project management, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to read schematics, drawings, bills of materials, and PCB manufacturing documentation.
• Knowledge of IPC workmanship standards and ESD controls.
• IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or IPC-7711/7721 certification preferred.
• Experience in prototype or high-mix, low-volume manufacturing preferred.
• Inventory management software experience preferred
• Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a US. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the US. under asylum or refugee status.

Benefits
Total compensation salary range is $65,000 - $112,500.  This range includes base salary, bonus potential, and benefits. The actual salary offered depends on numerous factors including but not limited to local labor costs, the position's qualifications in relation to candidate's job-related knowledge, relevant employment experience, education, certifications, and skills.
