SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer and direct calls to the appropriate department and/or person; take messages electronically as needed.
- Scan and file patient related information electronically ensuring accessibility and maintaining a current patient record.
- Sort, retrieve and deliver all incoming and outgoing correspondence for internal customers, utilizing the master patient index or EMR for identifying all patient related correspondence.
- Maintain list of employees who are out on attendance board and page physicians and staff as directed; contact hospitals and the Physician’s Exchange with call schedule information and changes
- Communicate problems and act as a liaison to inform management and phone company of phone system problems; act as gate-keeper of the back entrance area.
- Perform miscellaneous clerical tasks as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- 1 year PBX/multi-line phone experience, health care arena preferred
- Excellent telephone etiquette
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and work independently
- Proficiency with Windows based applications
- Ability to speak clearly and in an easily understood manner
- Ability to actively listen and comprehend callers’ requests
