Job Description

PC-DMIS CMM Programmer & Metrology Specialist

Location: Detroit, Michigan
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. (overtime and weekends mandatory when scheduled)
Compensation: Up to $30.00/hour (based on proven work history)

A day in this role

When the plant doors open, you’re already planning your first part layout on the direct-drive CMM. Blueprints are up, tolerances defined to ANSI 14.5, and you’re setting up programs in PC‑DMIS to verify critical dimensions. As production ramps, you may oversee more than one machine, keeping layouts moving while benchmarking against check fixtures. You log results to MQ1, compare outcomes to prints, and notify the appropriate team members when something drifts out of spec. Between runs, you conduct capability studies, certify gages and fixtures, contribute to PPAP packages, and ensure every action aligns with MIOSHA safety standards—gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, and all required PPE at the ready.

What you’ll handle

  • Translate blueprints and GD&T (ANSI 14.5) into accurate PC‑DMIS CMM programs.
  • Execute in-depth part layouts using direct-drive CMM and perform precision bench layouts.
  • Operate multiple machines simultaneously to meet throughput needs.
  • Run capability studies and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Certify check fixtures and record data within the MQ1 system.
  • Perform dimensional gage certifications and manage gage R&R (repeatability and reproducibility).
  • Enter gages into the gage system; maintain calibrations and related statistical studies in MQ1.
  • Adhere to MIOSHA and company safety procedures; consistently use required PPE.
  • Compare measurements to blueprint tolerances; promptly escalate discrepancies.
  • Assist with PPAP submissions and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the quality function.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace; deliver punctual and regular attendance.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned; be prepared to work any shift and accept overtime on short notice.

What you bring

  • Proficiency with bench layout, GD&T, blueprint reading, SPC statistics, Gage R&R, and visual defect auditing.
  • Comfort with work instructions/standards, quality check sheets, scrap reporting, cylinder handling, fixtures, setup procedures, tagging, part containment, and quality part history.
  • Hands-on skill with calipers, micrometers, height gages, radius gages, and other precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with TS16949 and ISO‑14001 procedures; completion of safety training.

Education and experience

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or a minimum of one year of directly related experience operating a CMM using PC‑DMIS and/or formal training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Legal and compliance

A successful candidate will be subject to a background check and must receive satisfactory results of the same, as a condition of joining the team.

How to stand out

Show us a track record of driving capability improvements, tightening measurement systems, and partnering with production to resolve complex dimensional issues quickly and safely.

Before you apply

By applying, you confirm your application details are accurate and complete. Providing false or misleading information may result in denial or revocation of an offer, or termination if discovered after hire.
