Paraprofessional – Special Education Support
Join our team and make a meaningful impact by supporting students with unique abilities as they grow, learn, and succeed.
Summary
Provide direct support to students with disabilities by assisting with academic instruction, behavior intervention, and daily living needs. Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and behavior specialists to implement individualized educational programs and ensure a safe, supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver teacher‑directed instruction to individuals or small groups, supporting cognitive development, fine and gross motor skills, feeding skills, self‑help skills, and behavior regulation.
- Maintain a safe environment by monitoring student actions, identifying potential hazards, and following established safety procedures.
- Support students with hygiene needs, including handwashing, toileting, diapering, and changing clothing as required.
- Monitor and guide student behavior using approved behavior intervention and support strategies.
- Assist students with orthopedic devices, lifting, positioning, and repositioning to ensure comfort and accessibility.
- Work closely with case managers, general education teachers, and specialists to support student goals and instructional plans.
- Facilitate positive peer interactions and help students develop social and communication skills.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and program data as directed by the teacher.
- Participate in required trainings, including medical procedures, instructional strategies, and behavior intervention practices.
- Prepare students for participation in general education settings following established procedures.
- Work cooperatively with staff and independently when needed to support classroom operations.
