We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments. The ideal candidate will work closely with healthcare professionals in a dynamic atmosphere, such as a Level I or Level II Trauma Center, teaching hospital, or medical-surgical unit. This role is vital in ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care and assistance during their recovery process.


Duties


  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients to enhance their overall well-being.
  • Monitor and record vital signs as directed by nursing staff.
  • Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to hygiene and safety protocols.
  • Assist with feeding and hydration needs of patients as required.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams in areas such as Hospital Medicine, Emergency Medicine, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and other specialized departments.
  • Educate patients and their families on care plans and health management strategies.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills relevant to patient care.
Qualifications


  • Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic patient care practices is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with inpatient care processes in both emergency medicine and outpatient settings is desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as teaching hospitals or trauma centers.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
  • Must be able to pass background checks as required by healthcare regulations.
