Job Summary:

The PCB Assembler I performs surface mount soldering, de-soldering, thru-hole soldering, hot bar soldering, conformal coating, and electronic assembly operations in support of Nova Biomedical manufacturing activities. This role requires the ability to identify electronic components and values, read assembly drawings, follow manufacturing instructions, and perform assembly tasks with limited supervision. The PCB Assembler I supports production, engineering prototype builds, new product evaluations, and continuous improvement efforts while maintaining high standards of quality and workmanship.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble printed circuit boards using written process instructions, assembly drawings, and visual aids.

  • Remove and replace components on circuit boards and modules.

  • Assemble and inspect SMT boards of low to medium complexity.

  • Operate basic board testing equipment.

  • Meet or exceed established production standards for assemblies.

  • Perform self-inspection to ensure quality workmanship and product compliance.

  • Recognize defective materials and ensure proper disposition.

  • Use microscopes while soldering and inspecting SMT components.

  • Implement engineering changes according to ECO and MV requirements.

  • Support R&D teams with prototype and new product builds.

  • Assist in training less experienced assemblers.

  • Continue developing technical knowledge and skills to support evolving manufacturing requirements.

Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Minimum of one year of experience in an electronic assembly and/or PCB production environment.

  • Basic understanding of ESD practices.

  • Basic knowledge of inventory control principles.

  • Ability to read and understand operating procedures, operating instructions, test procedures, and supporting documentation.

  • Basic understanding of electronic components and their functions.

  • Basic understanding of soldering techniques and equipment.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

  • Good organizational, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing job responsibilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work with small electronic components and assemblies.

  • Ability to use a microscope for soldering and inspection activities.

  • Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks for extended periods.

  • Ability to accurately identify electronic components and component values.

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work safely in a manufacturing environment.

Work Location: On-site in our Waltham, MA facility, 5 days/week

Targeted Salary Range: $27 - $29/hr
