Description

Build Technology That Protects People

Imagine starting your afternoon by bringing a production line to life. You power up the SMT equipment, load reels, dial in programs, and watch the first boards of the evening roll out precisely populated—components set to do important work in schools, hospitals, and communities. That’s a typical start to second shift on our PCB assembly team at Valcom.

A Day in This Role

From 4:00 pm until 2:30 am, Monday through Thursday, you’ll run the automated machinery that builds the circuit boards at the core of every Valcom product. You’ll:

  • Set up, operate, and change over surface mount (SMT) and through‑hole assembly equipment for different products
  • Calibrate and program machines for specific layouts, components, and feeder arrangements
  • Inspect boards throughout the process to uphold strict quality expectations
  • Keep materials stocked and complete routine preventive maintenance
  • Troubleshoot mispicks, alignment issues, and other line disruptions with your team

There’s frequent overtime available on Fridays (and occasional Saturdays) to meet demand. This is a second‑shift position with a $1.00/hour shift differential on top of base pay.

Where You’ll Work

Our clean, climate-controlled manufacturing floor in Roanoke, Virginia, runs at low to moderate noise levels. You’ll be on your feet moving between workstations, handling small parts, and using hand tools while seeing tangible progress every shift.

Grow With Us

  • No previous experience required—if you’re mechanically inclined, detail‑minded, and dependable, we’ll train you on SMT and through‑hole processes
  • Real opportunities to cross‑train and expand your skills across the assembly line
  • Small-team feel where people know your name, backed by the resources of a proven industry leader

  • Experience is a plus, but we hire for attitude and train for skill
