    Description

    Introduction

Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this PCB Design Engineer position located in Orlando, FL. This position is a direct hire opportunity which is expected to be on-site.

    Summary

This PCB Design Engineer position is responsible for the design and drafting of high-performance printed circuit boards used in complex RF and Microwave components and systems.  This role is critical to ensuring electrical performance, manufacturability, and reliability of designs operating from MHz through multi-GHz frequencies.

    Job Description:

    • Design and develop single and multilayer PCB layouts for RF, mixed-signal, analog, and digital circuits utilizing industry best practices.
    • Implement controlled impedance structures (microstrip, stripline, CPWG) and transmission line matching.
    • Optimize component placement and routing for signal integrity, isolation, and minimal parasitics.
    • Address RF-specific challenges such as grounding strategies, shielding, and coupling mitigation.
    • Translate schematics into layouts that preserve phase noise, isolation, minimize spurs, address thermal issues and maintain signal fidelity.
    • Work closely with other engineers to ensure layout supports filter response, oscillator stability, and low-noise performance.
    • Apply best practices for minimizing EMI/EMC and crosstalk in dense RF environments
    • Generate complete fabrication and assembly packages including:
      • Gerber/ODB++ files
      • Drill files and stack-up definitions
      • Fabrication drawings and notes
      • Assembly drawings
    • Define PCB stack-ups including RF laminates (e.g., Rogers) and hybrid constructions.
    • Understand dielectric properties, loss tangent, and their impact on RF performance.
    • Collaborate with fabricators to ensure compliance with requirements, manufacturability, and cost targets.
    • Support design reviews, including layout reviews and tolerance analysis.
    • Work with manufacturing to prevent and resolve assembly issues related to pcb design.

Qualified candidates would have the following:

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    • Strong knowledge of RF/microwave PCB design, including controlled impedance and high-frequency effects.
    • Understanding of signal integrity, EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, and RF materials.
    • Proficiency in PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence, PADS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook) for technical documentation and communication.
    • Demonstrated experience with RF PCB design techniques, including impedance control, shielding, and grounding.
    • Proficiency with PCB CAD tools such as Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics Pads
    • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and tolerances.
    • Ability to optimize layouts for signal fidelity, manufacturability, and performance.
    • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills.
    • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
    • Familiarity with IPC standard and high-reliability design practices.
    • Must be able to work with ITAR data without a license

    Education, Experience and Training:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering  or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    •  5+ years of PCB layout experience, with a strong emphasis on RF and high-frequency designs.
