Job Description:
The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer, will work on a product development team responsible for the design of Printed Circuit Board Layouts. You will be responsible for collaborating with layout designers, electrical, mechanical and manufacturing engineers to produce high-quality designs for various programs across our growing business.
Essential Functions:
- Place and route components ensuring that all electrical and physical specifications meet the specific design requirements for each PCB design.
- Ensure that all requirements for manufacturing and assembly are met.
- Develop and generate drawings and documentation to facilitate PCB fabrication and assembly.
- Rework PCB designs when engineering design changes occur and assist the design team with ideas to resolve issues.
- Perform drawing and documentation updates per the instructions of engineering change requests.
- Create component ECAD library footprints and/or schematic symbols as required for design projects.
Qualifications:
- Multiple years of experience in PCB design or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in PCB design.
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience
- Graduate Degree and a minimum 2 years of prior related experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
- An associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and/or an IPC CID certification is desired. A bachelor's and/or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is also beneficial.
- Competent skills and experience with ECAD software applications and related equipment. Specific experience with Siemens (formerly Mentor Graphics) Xpedition software is desired.
- Competent experience and knowledge of PCB design technologies, PCB layout techniques, electrical schematics, PCB fabrication and assembly drawings is desired.
- Practical knowledge of industry standards, such as IPC for design (including design for manufacturability) and ASME/ANSI for documentation, is desired. Specific relevant IPC standards include IPC-2221, IPC-2222, IPC-6012, IPC-A-600, and IPC-A-610.
- IT experience to help with backend management and maintenance of ECAD tools such as Siemens Xpedition and EDM.
