JOB SUMMARY

A PCB Test & Repair Technician at Doble Engineering will be responsible for repairing and modifying printed circuit boards (PCBs) by precisely soldering, desoldering, and replacing components, including fine-pitch, surface mount (SMT) and through hole parts. This role will be based at our Marlborough MA office reporting to Senior Manager of Operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Soldering/Desoldering • Accurately rework PCB's by soldering and desoldering various components, including fine-pitch, SMT and through hole components often under a microscope

Component rework • Remove and replace defective components on PCB

Inspection/Testing • Conduct visual inspection and perform continuity check on work to ensure proper functionality and adherence to quality specification

Equipment Operation • Set up and operate specialized equipment, such as soldering stations and microscopes for assembly rework and inspections

Documentation and collaboration • Maintain records of repairs, troubleshoot issues and communicate findings and potential improvements to engineering and quality teams

Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, blueprints and other engineering documentation

Related duties as assigned by manager

QUALIFICATION

EDUCATION:

High School degree or electronic technical certificate holding certifications from industry recognized bodies such as IPC or J-STD

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Strong technical background in electronics, with a deep understanding of PCB assembly and repair processes

Advanced skills in fine pitch, SMT and through hole soldering adhering to IPC- 610 and J-STD -001 standards

Experience using soldering irons, microscopes, multimeters, and other specialized tools

Ability to diagnose and resolve issues at the component level on complex PCBs

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):

Attention to Detail - meticulous precision required for complex rework tasks

Good written and verbal communication skills, able to collaborate with teammates and engineering teams

Familiar with Microsoft Office suite, Word, Excel, Outlook

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Problem Solving and debugging skills

Excellent communication skills

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to proactively communicate status and any issues to management

Ability to meet critical deadlines while managing multiple priorities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers.
