 About Your Role as a K-8 PE Teacher
This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties that include designing and delivering lessons aligned with standards, focusing on age-appropriate skills in sports and fitness. They incorporate child development principles, monitor student performance, provide feedback, and address issues. The instructor maintains a safe, dynamic classroom, fosters a love for learning, communicates with parents, participates in professional development, handles administrative tasks, ensures equipment safety, and assists with other duties.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Hours vary and are dependent on business needs.

Compensation: $58,583 - $78,903 (Depending on Experience)

 Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

• Implement social emotional learning in alignment with the school's program. Integrate social emotional learning throughout the instructional day.
• Prepare and develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and the school's curriculum framework.
• Prepare and deliver engaging and interactive lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners.
• Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and administration to enhance instructional materials, teaching methodologies and progress towards building goals.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities to ensure educational goals are met.
• Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.

Student Management

• Monitor and assess student performance through observation and formal assessments, providing constructive feedback to encourage academic growth.
• Facilitate conflict resolution among students and monitor their social and emotional well-being.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and dynamic classroom environment that is conducive to learning and fosters a love for education.
• Effectively manage student behavior, enforce school rules and policies, and address student issues related to health, conduct, and progress.
• Address student issues related to health, conduct, and academic progress.

Administrative & Community Relations

• Foster and maintain positive relationships with parents, guardians, community groups, and other stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and school programs, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
• Represent the school at meetings and events as required, serving as a liaison between the school and the broader community.
• Complete necessary administrative duties, including grading and preparing progress reports, to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
• Utilize technology to prepare instructional materials and enhance instructional delivery and engage students in the learning process.

Assist with other duties as assigned.

 Education and Experience Needed to be Successful

• Bachelor's degree required. Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or equivalent preferred. 
• Valid Colorado state certification in K-12 Physical Education.
• Master’s degree or greater preferred.
• 1 + years of full-time experience as a state or special services teacher preferred.

 Specialized Skills

• Advanced ability to understand the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of children ages 5–14, and to respond with sensitivity to students' needs while fostering a positive self-image and a love of physical activity.
• Advanced ability to teach health, fitness, and wellness practices designed specifically for K-8 students.
• Advanced ability to design age-appropriate physical education curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
• Advanced ability to maintain a safe environment during physical activity and apply first aid procedures when needed.
• Advanced ability to use verbal and non-verbal communication to instruct and motivate students.
• Advanced ability to manage student behavior in large-group, high-energy settings.
• Intermediate ability to organize activities, equipment, and schedules to maximize instructional time.
• Intermediate ability to modify activities and lessons to accommodate students with varying abilities and needs.
• Intermediate ability to demonstrate athletic techniques and actively participate in activities.
• Basic ability to assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instruction to improve outcomes.
• Willingness to learn and integrate Leader in Me and 7 Habits principles into daily instruction.
