Job Summary
The Elementary Physical Education Teacher provides standards-based physical education instruction to students across two elementary school sites. Working collaboratively with a fellow Elementary PE Teacher, this position is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing engaging physical education lessons that promote physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong healthy habits. The teacher develops weekly lesson plans aligned with California Physical Education Standards and district curriculum, creates a safe and inclusive learning environment, and adapts instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. Responsibilities include organizing and supervising physical activities, monitoring student progress, maintaining equipment and instructional materials, and communicating effectively with students, staff, and families. The position requires collaboration with site administrators, classroom teachers, and support staff to coordinate schedules, school events, wellness initiatives, and student support services. The Elementary PE Teacher also participates in professional development activities, staff meetings, and other district responsibilities as assigned.

Any of the following credentials will work for this position: PE Authorization Single Subject: PE Credential Multiple Subject Teaching Credential may be appropriate if you have experience teaching, coaching, or working with young children in sports, physical education, recreation, or other physical activity programs. CPR/First Aid Certification preferred

GENERAL INFORMATION: BENEFITS: Sick leave is earned at the rate of one day per month, and is accumulative from year to year; Personal Leave and Personal Necessity days are also earned, as stipulated in the collective bargaining agreement. Insurance: The District offers a competitive Health and Welfare plan for employees and dependents based upon the number of hours worked. Employees are required to contribute depending on the plan they choose. California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS). New employees become permanent upon successful completion of a probationary period of two years. Upon offer of employment: Per Immigration Reform & Control Act of 1986, if you are hired, proof of American Citizenship or right to work in the United States will be required. All persons chosen for appointment are fingerprinted to check for and/or verify conviction records. Employment is contingent upon showing freedom from TB by taking an intradermal tuberculin test, chest x-ray or examination. This position is included in the certificated bargaining unit.
