SUMMARY

The Pediatric Cardiac Electrophysiologist is responsible for providing comprehensive electrophysiology and general cardiology care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with congenital and acquired heart disease. This physician will participate in inpatient and outpatient clinical services, perform diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures, support ambulatory rhythm monitoring programs, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary pediatric and congenital heart teams.

This role will work in close cooperation with Medical Director of Cath lab, Chief of Cardiology, Chief of Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology Practice Leadership to foster the success of the program with respect to quality, efficiency, costs, community awareness, and integration of the program throughout Connecticut Children's.

The role includes opportunities for program development, teaching, quality improvement, and clinical research.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

MD or DO Degree, residency, and completion of accredited Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship and Pediatric Cardiac Electrophysiologist Fellowship.

LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

Licensed and registered, and in good standing under the laws of the State of Connecticut

BC/BE Pediatric Cardiologist.

DEA with Controlled Substance required and must be maintained thereafter

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

2 years Cardiac Electrophysiologist Experience with Adult Congenital Heart Disease

LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

Board certification/eligibility in Adult Congenital Heart Disease

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide comprehensive pediatric electrophysiology and general cardiology consultations in inpatient, outpatient, and outreach settings.

Includes, but not limited to: Perform & interpret Cardiac electrophysiology studies, Catheter ablations, Device Implantation and management (Pacemakers, ICDs, Loop Recorders), ECGs, Holter/ event monitors, and exercise stress testing.

Diagnose and manage pediatric/adult arrhythmias, syncope, inherited arrhythmia syndromes, and rhythm disorders in congenital heart disease patients.

Collaborations with other adult partner institutions for congenital interventional cardiology (example: with Hartford Hospital)

Participate in quality assurance, risk management, and patient satisfaction programs pertaining to Connecticut Children's

Participate in fetal cardiology, transition/adult congenital heart disease, and multidisciplinary congenital heart clinics as appropriate.

Ongoing participation in interventional cardiology QI initiatives, IMPACT registry

Collaborations with CT surgery, Cath Lab Interventionalists, PICU for post-operative cardiac management

Conducts training or assists in the training of Fellows, Interns, and Resident Physicians

Maintain timely and complete chart notes, reports, and communication with primary care/referring physicians and other relevant subspecialty physicians. Also, maintain open and timely communication with patients, families, and guardians.

Comply with all billing, coding, documentation, and regulatory requirements.

Maintains varied hours on a rotated schedule with other physicians to ensure that there is always a physician on-call during non-business hours.

Faculty appointment is offered at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine - The academic appointment (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor) will be commensurate with experience and contributions to the field.

The ideal candidate should also be skilled and interested in the practice of ambulatory and inpatient pediatric cardiology.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
