Position Overview:
Just Kids Dental is seeking an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our clinical team.
This is a hands-on clinical position in a busy pediatric dental practice. Our Dental Assistants work closely with our dentists to provide efficient four-handed dentistry while helping children feel comfortable and supported throughout their visits.
The ideal candidate works well in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively with children and parents, takes pride in maintaining an organized operatory, and understands that excellent patient care requires the entire clinical team working together.
Responsibilities:
- Provide efficient four-handed chairside assistance during dental procedures.
- Prepare operatories, instruments, materials, and equipment for patient care.
- Participate in a rotating schedule to assist our dentists with hospital-based dental cases at local hospitals on designated, pre-scheduled days.
- Help children feel comfortable by explaining procedures in an age-appropriate and reassuring manner.
- Obtain digital dental radiographs when qualified to do so under Louisiana requirements.
- Accurately document clinical information and assist with maintaining complete patient records.
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection-control protocols.
- Turn over and restock operatories efficiently between patients.
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked sterilization and laboratory areas.
- Provide post-operative instructions and reinforce oral-hygiene education with patients and caregivers as directed by the dentist.
- Perform laboratory and other clinical tasks within the assistant's training and permitted scope of practice.
- Work collaboratively with dentists, hygienists, assistants, and administrative staff to maintain an efficient patient flow and a high standard of care.
- Provide occasional administrative or scheduling support when needed.
Shift / Scheduling:
This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday from 7:50 AM - 4:00 PM.
Required Qualifications:
- Dental assisting experience; 2+ year preferred.
- Strong chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfort working with children and communicating with parents and caregivers.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Dependability, professionalism, and a team-oriented attitude.
- Commitment to compassionate patient care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous pediatric dental experience.
- Louisiana Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) training/certification confirmation.
- Completion of Louisiana-approved dental radiology training.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
