TITLE: Pediatric DSP (In-Home Care)

  • Primary role will be to provide specialized, in-home care to 2 pediatric DODD patients
  • A DSP Certification from Ohio DODD is required for this position: candidates already possessing an active certification are highly desired, however HCN will support qualified non-certified applicants committed to obtaining this prior to start.

LOCATION: Jackson County, Ohio 

SCHEDULE TYPE: Flexible / Weekdays (Primarily Daytime)

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time or Full-time, Hourly pay

  • This is a long-term employment opportunity.
  • Expected hours: varies (flexible availability required)
    • During School: afternoons / early evening + some weekend hours
    • Summers / Holiday Breaks: mostly days / occasional early evening + weekends 

COMPENSATION: $16 - $18 per hour

Pay Rate based on certifications, experience, schedule and travel availability, work history, references, and overall fit.

 


POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly-skilled, compassionate, and professional Pediatric Direct Support Provider (DSP) to join our home health agency and provide daily care, skill development, health monitoring, and advocacy to and on behalf of DODD clients in Jackson County and surrounding areas.

Schedule Options

  • Primary: Weekdays - during the day | Weekend shifts may be available case-by-case
  • Full-Time desired (will consider PT based on availability)
  • Local travel within Jackson County | Expanded cases/hours may include adjacent Counties

 

Requirements / Non-Negotiables

Job-Related

  • DSP Certification from Ohio DODD: existing or willing to complete prior to start. 
  • Schedule availability + flexibility to adjust between School hours and Summer/Break hours
  • Successful completion of all HCN skills tests and competency evaluations. 
    • Willingness and timely compliance to maintain all ongoing Training & Certification Requirements
  • Active CPR + FA certification and documentation of both (+ proof/documentation of both readily available)
    • Medication Administration Certification is highly preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year paid in-home caregiving or equivalent experience (in-home care for DODD patients is highly desired)
  • Minimum of 1 year qualified experience in pediatric in-home care (experience specifically supporting pediatric individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral needs is highly preferred)
  • Willing and able to regularly perform all physical demands of home care (including lifting/carrying up to 30–50 lbs. occasionally).

  • Recognize changes in health status; Follow care plans and medical protocols; Understand and apply infection control and safety procedures.
  • Ability to complete daily service documentation, incident reports, and EVV (Electronic Visit Verification) entries. 
  • Possess above-basic computer and mobile device proficiency. Experience with modern EMR/EHRs is a plus.
  • Must adhere to Individual rights protections (Ohio Bill of Rights for individuals with DD), Confidentiality (HIPAA compliance), and Mandatory reporting laws (abuse, neglect, exploitation)
  • Must maintain professionalism with individuals, families, and care teams

Preferred Skills & Qualifications (not required)

  • Active DSP Certification from Ohio DODD and/or 2+ years experience caring for DODD patients
  • Experience with:
    • G-tubes / feeding support
    • Seizure protocols
    • Behavioral health or crisis response
  • CNA, STNA, or prior home health experience
  • Familiarity with Medicaid waiver services

    • Up to 45- or 60-minute client travel radius (from your home) is highly desired (not required).
    • Candidates seeking cases closer to home (<30 minutes) will be considered if necessary.
  • Mileage reimbursement between multiple clients is provided.

Position Reports to: RN Case Manager / Program or Regional Administrator

 

A successful DSP provides personal care services under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Therapist in their region. You will be assigned to specific clients by the Registered Nurse or other appropriate professionals and perform services for clients as necessary to maintain personal comfort and safety in their home.

  • Frequent standing walking, stopping/bending infrequent squatting/kneeling and balancing
