Summit Healthcare Staffing is looking to hire a Director of Nursing for our client. This is a respected pediatric skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility focusing on long-term care. We need an experienced clinical leader to oversee our nursing team and ensure the highest standard of specialized care for our young residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Leadership: Provide strong, hands-on leadership across all pediatric nursing operations, including complex long-term care, specialized ventilator/tracheostomy programs, and transitional care, ensuring exceptional outcomes for our children.
  • Direct Advocacy & Care: Actively participate in pediatric patient care, including specialized assessments, pediatric care planning, clinical decision-making, and modeling best practices for the nursing team.
  • Team Mentorship: Manage, mentor, and inspire the nursing staff, fostering professional growth, pediatric competencies, accountability, and a culture of teamwork and excellence.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee staffing, scheduling, and pediatric resource allocation to ensure units are safely staffed and clinical operations run efficiently.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Implement, monitor, and enforce policies, procedures, and pediatric regulatory standards to maintain strict compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with therapy (PT/OT/ST), child life specialists, social work, and pediatric dietary teams to optimize holistic child development and care satisfaction.
  • Quality & Safety Metrics: Monitor and analyze clinical performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and driving initiatives that elevate pediatric quality, safety, and infection control.
  • Family-Centered Communication: Serve as the primary clinical point of contact for parents and legal guardians, addressing questions, concerns, and care planning discussions with deep empathy and professionalism.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead pediatric quality assurance performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives to constantly strengthen care standards and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Licensure: Active and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven leadership experience in a pediatric skilled nursing facility, pediatric specialized hospital, or complex pediatric home health setting (e.g., Clinical Manager, ADON, or DON).
  • Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on clinical ability in pediatric nursing (vent/trach care, g-tubes, neurodevelopmental disorders) with a willingness to engage directly in patient care when needed.
  • Strong Bed Side Manner: Understand how to handle parents who are trying to navigate this difficult time.
  • Compliance Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of pediatric nursing standards, state/federal regulatory compliance, QA processes, and patient safety initiatives.
  • People Skills: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities, capable of motivating and guiding a diverse team of nursing professionals.
  • Staff Development: Experience with staff development, pediatric competencies, performance management, and operational oversight, including budgeting and resource planning.
