EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Required:
Graduate from accredited school of medicine required
MD or DO Degree required
LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Must possess current unrestricted license to practice in the State of CT and must be maintained thereafter
DEA with Controlled Substance required and must be maintained thereafter
Board certified/board eligible in both Pediatrics and Medical Genetics.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Thoroughly evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage each patient's condition appropriately.
Identifies relevant medical issues accurately and use appropriate procedures and testing.
Documenting assessment findings, treatment recommendations and plan for continuing care in the clinical record.
Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, other agency providers, clinical support staff, and administrative staff in meeting patient and family needs.
Provide health promotion, education and counseling for patient/families related to medication, diagnosis, health issues and coping strategies.
Participate in the management of inter-disciplinary team issues that affect clinical care of patients.
Utilize quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
Participate in the identification and implementation of opportunities to enhance patient and family satisfaction.
Participate in pediatric clinical research into the genetic basis of inherited disorders and scholarly activities to promote the health and development of children.
Provide clinical teaching in genetics to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents and fellows.
Participate in efforts to ensure compliance with JCAHO standards and other applicable accreditation and regulatory standards.
Participate in peer review and quality assurance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Academic appointments may be available with the University of Connecticut.
