Why Detroit

Detroit is one of the great American comeback stories - a city redefining itself through innovation, culture, and an unmistakable sense of pride. You'll find a thriving food and arts scene, world-class museums, and major professional sports all within a compact, walkable downtown that's seen significant reinvestment over the past decade. The metro area offers excellent suburban communities with strong schools, generous square footage for the dollar, and a lower cost of living compared to most major academic medical markets. With easy access to the Great Lakes, Canada, and a robust international airport, Detroit delivers both quality of life and geographic convenience in a way that quietly surprises most newcomers.
