Pediatric Occupational Therapist (ADHD, Executive Functioning & Brain-Based Approaches)
Ability and Beyond Integrated Therapy

Most OT jobs will keep you comfortable. This one will help you grow.

If you’re looking for predictable sessions and routine treatment plans, this probably isn’t the right fit.

But if you’re the kind of OT who wants to understand what’s really going on—and help kids function in real life… keep reading.

You’ll work with kids and teens who are bright, capable, and still struggling—often with ADHD, executive functioning challenges, learning differences, and sensory processing differences.
They’ve often been told they’ll “figure it out” or “grow out of it.”
They haven’t.
This is where your work starts to matter.

You’ll learn how to:
  • Identify what’s actually driving a child’s challenges
  • Connect sensory, motor, cognitive, and regulation systems
  • Use both foundational and advanced, brain-based approaches
  • Think and adapt in real time—not rely on templates
Exposure research backed approaches such as sensory integration, reflex integration, neural timing, ocular motor/visual processing, and photo biomodulation

What you’ll actually do:
  • Work 1:1 with children, teens, and young adults
  • Address sensory processing, executive functioning, and emotional regulation
  • Help improve focus, organization, follow-through, and independence
  • Coach parents who are overwhelmed and need clear, practical answers
  • Build treatment plans that translate into real-life progress

You’ll thrive here if you:
  • Want to be really good at what you do
  • Are curious about how the brain processes and organizes information
  • Enjoy solving problems that aren’t straightforward
  • Are open to learning beyond traditional OT approaches

This may not be the right fit if:
  • You prefer highly routine, predictable sessions
  • You rely heavily on standard protocols
  • You’re not interested in being challenged or growing

What you’ll gain:
  • Strong skills in sensory integration and executive functioning
  • Experience with advanced, processing-based approaches
  • Sharper clinical reasoning that applies to real-life function
  • Confidence working with more complex cases

There are plenty of OT jobs where you maintain your skills. This is where you build them.
