West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Ophthalmology invite applications for a Pediatric Ophthalmologist at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. This full-time university-based position is located in Morgantown, WV

Position Overview 

We seek a dedicated clinician-educator to join our growing team at the WVU Eye Institute and WVU Medicine Childrens Hospital. The successful candidate will provide exceptional care in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus, contribute to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, and participate in the continued expansion of our academic mission. 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide comprehensive clinical care in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus 
  • Participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows 
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and orthoptists 
  • Engage in academic and scholarly activities as desired 

Qualifications 

  • MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) 
  • Eligibility for West Virginia medical licensure 
  • Completion of an accredited ophthalmology residency 
  • Completion of a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship 
  • Board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology 
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment

You will join a thriving team that includes two full-time and two part-time pediatric ophthalmologists, a pediatric optometrist, and an orthoptist. Our clinicians care for a diverse patient population and routinely manage complex and challenging cases. 

The Eye Institute is the largest comprehensive ophthalmology department in West Virginia, housing all ophthalmic subspecialties and a robust research enterprise. Our Vision Research Center is nationally recognized and currently supports: 

  • Seven R01 grants 
  • One COBRE grant 
  • Sixteen industry-sponsored studies 

A new 150,000 sq. ft. Eye Institute facility has been approved, featuring: 

  • 102 exam rooms 
  • 44 testing rooms 
  • Dedicated surgical suites This expansion will significantly enhance patient access and clinical capacity.
