SMS Clinical Research is seeking an experienced Pediatric Phlebotomist who will also work as a Clinical Research Assistant to join our growing clinical research team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled phlebotomist who enjoys working with infants, children, and families and is interested in expanding their experience in clinical research.
Key Responsibilities
Perform blood draws on pediatric patients, including newborns and infants
Obtain high-quality blood specimens while ensuring patient comfort and safety
Assist with pediatric clinical research visits and study procedures
Support patient screening, enrollment, and study visits
Perform vital signs, ECGs, specimen processing, and other research-related procedures as trained
Maintain accurate and timely study documentation
Follow study protocols, ICH/GCP guidelines, and site SOPs
Communicate professionally with patients, parents/guardians, investigators, and research staff
Assist with recruitment and other clinical research activities as needed
Travel between SMS Clinical Research locations/sites as needed
Required Qualifications
Strong pediatric phlebotomy experience is required
Demonstrated experience drawing blood from newborns, infants, and young children
Excellent venipuncture and specimen-collection skills
Comfortable working with children and communicating with parents/guardians
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols precisely
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between sites
Previous clinical research experience is preferred but not required
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is exceptionally skilled at pediatric phlebotomy, particularly with newborns and difficult pediatric draws. The ideal candidate is patient, compassionate, detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to learn clinical research.
This position is not a general phlebotomy position. Candidates must have significant hands-on experience drawing blood from pediatric patients, including newborns.
