Our organization is a 537-bed teaching hospital located about 40 miles from New York City, situated in West Islip, New York. We also have a facility in Port Jefferson, Long Island. Both locations are enriched with a vibrant culture and history, offering a wide array of attractions and activities. Families can take advantage of excellent school districts and various recreational options. Whether it's professional sports, beautiful beaches, museums, or outdoor activities like golfing, hunting, and skiing, Long Island provides something for everyone throughout the year.
Our hospital employs over 900 physicians and operates a Level II pediatric trauma center, serving nearly 950,000 patients each year along the south shore of Long Island. We proudly host Suffolk County's only freestanding Center for Pediatric Specialty Care, with additional satellite centers in Nassau County and plans for further expansion. Our children's program caters to patients from infancy through adulthood, featuring a Level III Neonatology Unit and a dedicated team of pediatric therapists who deliver top-notch care in physical, occupational, feeding, and swallowing therapies, along with an early intervention program. Our commitment to pediatrics is reflected in our specialized Pediatric Emergency Department, staffed 24/7 by physicians trained in pediatric emergency medicine, as well as our pediatric residency and fellowship programs.
Additionally, we support two ACGME-accredited residency programs in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, with St. Charles Hospital serving as a primary training site for one of them. Our extensive experience in rehabilitation medicine allows us to address both adult and pediatric long-term rehabilitative needs, supported by a team of physical and occupational therapists.
