Physical Therapist provides therapeutic support for Physical Therapy Supervisor including but not limited to, implement treatment plans for patients, document and evaluate patients, record prognoses, and confer with others. Services include but not limited to, providing physical therapy, develop, implement, and modify treatment plans, and demonstrate good judgment. Physical Therapist (Intensive Clinic) would also contribute to the growth of the Intensive Therapy Program by supporting innovative, evidence-based practices designed for high-frequency, short-duration therapy models.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and other dynamic movements throughout the workday. Must be able to safely lift, transfer, and support patients and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. The position also requires sufficient manual dexterity for hands-on therapeutic techniques and the ability to push, pull, or move objects as part of patient care. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision to monitor patient safety, observe movement patterns, and assess equipment. The work environment may include moderate exposure to environmental elements such as noise, odors, bodily fluids, cleaning agents, and varying temperatures typical of clinical and therapy spaces. Use of personal computing equipment, electronic medical records, and standard office/clinical technology is required for documentation and communication. The role may involve occasional travel for meetings, trainings, or other business-related needs. Some after-hours work, including weekends or holidays, may be required based on patient or operational needs
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Evaluate patients with a variety of deficits in gross motor skills, gait, balance, strength, endurance, and overall functional mobility.  
Perform comprehensive evaluations using standardized assessments, tests and measures clinical observation.
Prioritize a clinical problem list, formulate family-centered goals, and develop a treatment plan.  
Document evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, daily notes and discharge summaries accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain well-being and safety of the patients during all interventions.
Collaborate with families and interdisciplinary team regarding patient’s progress and potential barriers and provide clinical education related to patients, families, and staff.
Provide supervision to physical therapy students and assistants and co-sign documentation for staff Physical Therapist Assistants
Demonstrate effective time management skills.
Abide by the Physical Therapy Code of Ethics.
Observe patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
Demonstrate flexibility and collaboration within an interdisciplinary team model typical of an intensive therapy environment.
Perform other duties as delegated, required or requested.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education Experience License & Certification Testing Other
• Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. Master’s or Doctorate with a specialty in Pediatrics highly desirable
• Physical therapy minimum of 3 years of experience (in pediatric setting preferred)
• Experience with intensive therapy models in pediatrics or adult inpatient rehabilitation strongly preferred.
• Treatment of children with neurologic and musculoskeletal disabilities (minimum of 1 year of experience)
• Valid Texas Driver License
• Registration with the National Board for Certification in Physical Therapy
• Current Basic Life Support/ CPR Certification for Health Care Providers
• Valid and current physical therapy license to work in the state of Texas through Executive Council of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners (ECPTOTE)
• Criminal background check
• Non-DOT drug test
• Acceptable MVR • MS Office Programs
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required
• Teamwork and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Proficiency in physical therapy techniques and equipment
