This employment opportunity is being recruited by Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego on behalf of Children's Specialists of San Diego.

Children's Specialists of San Diego (CSSD), a collaborative physician practice, is hiring a full time Pediatric Radiologist to support pediatric imaging services at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego. Rady Children's Hospital San Diego is a top ten US News & World Report ranked Children's Hospital, with a 511-bed pediatric tertiary care facility that serves as the region's only free-standing children's hospital and trauma center.

The Radiology team is composed of pediatric board-certified radiologists committed to delivering exceptional diagnostic care for infants, children, and adolescents. The department is accredited by the American College of Radiology and recognized for its commitment to safe, high-quality imaging across CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound.

The radiology department performs more than 200,000 exams each year. In 2028, RCHSD will complete construction of a major tower expansion that will house a new radiology department including a new MRI (4 total MRIs), new photon-counting CT scanner (3 CT scanners), PET-CT, new fluoroscopy, x-ray, and ultrasound rooms, a Radiology PACU, and a new reading room.

Physicians in this practice receive a voluntary academic appointment to the UC San Diego School of Medicine to participate in teaching UCSD trainees. Research productivity is not required for this position.

JOB SUMMARY PEDIATRIC RADIOLOGIST:

The Pediatric Radiologist will provide 100% pediatric diagnostic radiology services at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego, interpreting a broad range of pediatric imaging studies, including radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI, in collaboration with referring pediatric specialists.

The Pediatric Radiologist will work approximately 182 clinical shifts per year (including weekend and evening shifts). These shifts will be a hybrid of onsite and remote practice with more than 50% of shifts (including call shifts) being remote. Half of weekend shifts will be remote, and half will be onsite (in-house). This position will participate in patient safety, quality, and service excellence initiatives; contribute to the education of trainees through the practice's academic affiliation with UC San Diego; and support continuous improvement initiatives. Overnight preliminary reports are provided by an outside teleradiology service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MD or DO degree (or equivalent)
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Radiology
  • Completion of (or in the process of completing) a Pediatric Radiology fellowship and eligible for CAQ in pediatric radiology
  • Eligible for unrestricted California medical licensure
  • Receipt of hospital staff privileges
  • Insurability at standard rates with malpractice carrier
  • Timely completion of all paperwork required for credentialing, malpractice, CCS/Medi-Cal and appropriate employment verification paperwork

The expected hiring range for this position is $500,000 to $600,000 per year.
