Mission or Goal of Unit: Themission of the Pediatric Urology Division is the advancement of science throughresearch and the training of undergraduate and graduate students in ourdiscipline. The Division fosters a level of research and professional activityessential to the graduate and to the professional growth of the faculty. TheDivision provides junior faculty with clinical and research experiences thatprepare them for their professional careers. The Division is committed toenhance diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. Finally, faculty havea responsibility to provide service to their profession and to the universitycommunity.

Chief Purpose of this position:  The Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Urology is seeking candidates for a collateral, non-tenure track faculty position in thearea of Pediatric Urology. The faculty member will also support the generalsurgical practice and teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels of the Division.

Position Responsibilities: 

Teaching | Faculty member will have teachingresponsibilities in all areas of Pediatric Urology. 

Research | Establishmentof a successful research program in partnership with other disciplines whichwill lead to independent funding as an investigator.

Clinical | Faculty will establish a successfulclinical practice in the field of pediatric urology. Clinical responsibilitiesmay also involve shared time between VCU and affiliated community hospitals.

Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.) | Faculty member willserve on departmental, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as ina professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer,etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be BoardCertified/Board Eligible in Urology and Pediatric Urology
  • ACGME approved Fellowshipin Pediatric Urology
  • Ability to work in a complex matrixedenvironment with high emotional intelligence
  • Commitment toteaching and practice in an academic setting
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
