Summary

The Director, Texas Children''s Global Sickle Cell Disease Initiatives, will serve as the leader responsible for the design, implementation, growth, and impact of Texas Children''s global sickle cell disease portfolio, with technical responsibility for leading the Sickle Cell Disease programs. The Director will lead a complex multinational initiative operating across multiple African countries and engaging Ministries of Health, Africa CDC, implementing NGOs, academic institutions, community organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and philanthropic partners. The Director is responsible for translating strategic vision into operational execution while ensuring measurable improvements in access, quality, scale, sustainability, and health outcomes. The role requires exceptional abilities in global health leadership, program implementation, stakeholder engagement, workforce development, health systems strengthening, and organizational management.

Lead Multinational Program Implementation

Direct implementation across participating countries by coordinating activities related to stakeholder mobilization, workforce development, commodities access, digital health systems, monitoring and evaluation, and health systems strengthening. The Director ensures effective execution of the initiative''s strategic actions across diverse country contexts.

Cultivate and Manage High-Level Partnerships

Participate in managing Texas Children''s strategic sickle cell disease partnerships involving Africa CDC, Ministries of Health, academic institutions, implementing organizations, community organizations, pharmaceutical companies, multilateral agencies, and philanthropic organizations.

Strengthen Health Workforce Capacity

Lead efforts to build sustainable systems for training, mentoring, and supporting health workers involved in SCD care, including specialists, nurses, physicians, laboratory personnel, and community-based providers. This includes oversight of training partnerships and implementation of scalable workforce development models.

Advance Health Systems Transformation

Ensure that Texas Children''s global sickle cell disease initiatives strengthen rather than duplicate existing health systems by integrating services into national policies, public health platforms, training systems, supply chains, financing mechanisms, and digital infrastructure.

Oversee Program Quality, Learning, and Impact

Lead performance management processes that utilize data, evaluation findings, implementation science principles, and continuous improvement approaches to maximize program effectiveness and sustainability.

Serve as a Global Thought Leader and Ambassador

Represent Texas Children''s in international forums, scientific meetings, advocacy platforms, and policy discussions related to sickle cell disease and child health systems strengthening.
