Your Role:

As the Clemson Peer Advisor you will support education abroad efforts at Clemson University by helping students explore study and internship opportunities abroad. In collaboration with CEA CAPA and the Pam Hendrix Center for Education Abroad, the Clemson Peer Advisor position will complete outreach across campus, serve as a resource for students seeking information on approved CEA CAPA education abroad programs, and support staff with advising and pre-departure efforts where appropriate. You will provide valuable experience in marketing, advising, leadership, communication, public speaking, and student affairs.

Location: This is a remote position that is open to Clemson University students and requires that they reside in the Clemson, SC area.

Hours: This is a part-time position paying $16/hr. with a standard work schedule is approx. 8-12 hours per week.

What You'll Do:

OUTREACH

  • Coordinate approved education abroad outreach on campus, host pop-up events, support with presentations to student organizations and classrooms, and attend study abroad fairs in collaboration with CEA CAPA.
  • Execute follow-up outreach to students who have expressed an interest in CEA CAPA programs.
  • Develop targeted outreach for underrepresented populations to expand access to education abroad at large.
  • In collaboration with CEA CAPA Alumni Ambassadors, coordinate additional outreach to generate awareness of CEA CAPA program opportunities.

ADVISING

  • Conduct general info sessions, one-on-one and in small groups, for students interested in approved CEA CAPA study and intern abroad programs and other Clemson education abroad opportunities.
  • Answer questions and provide guidance to students interested in CEA CAPA program offerings with an emphasis on connecting students with best-fit programs.
  • In collaboration with CEA CAPA staff, provide pre-departure support to students studying abroad on CEA CAPA programs.

TRAINING & COLLABORATION

  • Participate in trainings, professional development, and check-in meetings with CEA CAPA and the Pam Hendrix Center for Education Abroad.
  • Report to CEA CAPA and the Pam Hendrix Center for Education Abroad on outreach and advising efforts.
  • Collaborate with CEA CAPA and the Pam Hendrix Center for Education Abroad to build knowledge on campus policies, practices, and program opportunities.

What Makes a Great Candidate:

  • Current student enrolled in a degree program at Clemson University who has participated in a CEA CAPA program.
  • Available to work 8-12 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend availability.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Passion for working with students from diverse backgrounds and promoting study abroad opportunities.
  • Connectivity to Clemson student life and/or Greek organizations.

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Confidence in public speaking and delivering presentations.
  • Familiarity with Clemson University education abroad resources and policies.
