About the Role

The Peer Coach – Driver provides recovery-focused peer support, transportation services, and member advocacy to individuals participating in New Freedom programs. This position serves as a trusted mentor and role model while helping members navigate recovery, community resources, employment opportunities, and treatment services. The role combines peer support responsibilities with safe transportation services to ensure members remain engaged in the services and supports they need to succeed

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Providing peer support, mentorship, advocacy, and recovery coaching services
• Assisting members in identifying strengths, setting goals, and developing recovery-focused plans
• Supporting members in developing life skills, social skills, and community integration strategies
• Transporting members safely to approved appointments, employment activities, treatment services, community resources, and recovery supports
• Conducting prison pick-ups, release transports, and other approved transportation assignments when needed
• Completing vehicle inspections, mileage logs, and transportation documentation
• Maintaining assigned vehicles in a safe, clean, and professional condition
• Collaborating with clinical, reentry, transitional services, and case management teams to support member success

• Members arrive safely and on time to appointments, services, and recovery-related activities
• Individuals feel supported, encouraged, and engaged throughout their recovery journey
• Transportation services are provided safely, professionally, and efficiently
• Vehicle inspections, documentation, and fleet requirements are consistently maintained
• Strong relationships are developed with members while maintaining professional boundaries
• Recovery, treatment, employment, and reentry goals are supported through active engagement and advocacy

What We’re Looking For

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) designation required
• Peer and Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) Certification required
• Minimum one year of peer support, behavioral health, recovery services, reentry services, or related experience (2 or more years preferred)
• Valid Arizona driver's license required
• Successful annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) clearance required
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain professional and ethical boundaries
• Experience providing transportation services in healthcare, behavioral health, or community-service environments preferred
• Experience working with justice-involved, recovery, or reentry populations preferred
• Knowledge of community resources, employment supports, and recovery services

Environment + Physical Demands

This position works in behavioral health, recovery, reentry, residential treatment, transportation, and community-based environments.

• Frequent driving and local travel throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and surrounding communities
• Regular interaction with members, treatment teams, community agencies, employers, and correctional facilities
• Frequent use of computers, mobile devices, navigation systems, and electronic documentation platforms
• Ability to respond appropriately to transportation needs, emergencies, and member-support situations
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or moving materials weighing up to 20 pounds
