    Description

    Position Summary:

    The Peer Recovery Specialist under the direction of the Behavioral Health Medical Director will have a strong understanding of addiction and recovery processes, providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This role involves conducting individual and group non-clinical, strength-based support, performing patient assessments, and developing personalized treatment plans to facilitate recovery. The Peer Recovery Specialist will also engage in case management and crisis intervention, ensuring that clients receive the necessary resources and support throughout their recovery journey.

    KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct individual and group sessions to address addiction issues and promote recovery.
    • Perform comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate the needs of clients.
    • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
    • Provide case management services, coordinating care with other healthcare professionals as needed.
    • Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist clients in high-stress situations.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and session notes.
    • Collect and analyze research data related to addiction treatment outcomes.
    • Educate clients about addiction, recovery processes, and available resources.
    • Apply knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9 coding, and applied behavior analysis in counseling practices.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
    • Experience in individual group counseling and case management within an addiction treatment setting.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to addiction treatment.
    • Familiarity with research data collection methods, tracking, and reporting related to behavioral health outcomes.
    • Strong skills in crisis management and intervention strategies.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
    • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in counseling practices.
    • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records. Proficiency with eClinicalWorks, preferred.
    • Must be attentive to detail.
    • Must be professional in communication and appearance.
    • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
