Drawing upon their own lived experiences, the Peer Support Specialist will serve as a mentor and advocate, fostering empowerment and resilience among clients.Key Responsibilities: Engage with individuals in the community who are experiencing mental health challenges, offering peer support and encouragement in a non-judgmental manner. Establish trusting and supportive relationships with clients, serving as a role model and mentor in their recovery journey. Provide one-on-one peer support sessions, facilitating discussions, and sharing personal experiences to offer hope, empathy, and validation. Assist clients in identifying their strengths, goals, and values, and support them in developing personalized recovery plans. Collaborate with other members of the Community Outreach Team to connect clients with appropriate resources, including mental health services, housing assistance, employment opportunities, and social support networks. Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are addressed within the community and service systems. Lead or co-facilitate community events focused on mental health education, self-care, and peer support. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all interactions with clients and stakeholders. Document client interactions, progress, and outcomes accurately and timely in accordance with organizational protocols. Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and training sessions to enhance skills and professional development.
