Location: Visalia, CA
Position Type: Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $20.00 – $21.22 per hour

Position Overview:
Kings View is seeking a Peer Support Specialist I to support consumers in their recovery and wellness journey. This entry-level position is designed for individuals developing the skills and experience needed to independently support service delivery.
The Peer Support Specialist I provides direct advocacy and support to consumers while learning to deliver services effectively. This role focuses on professional growth, training, and building competencies to become an independent contributor to the service team.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Service & Support:
- Provide advocacy and support to consumers navigating recovery and wellness
- Serve as a positive role model by sharing lived experience appropriately
- Assist in the development of consumer-driven wellness and recovery plans
- Co-facilitate groups and classes with experienced staff
Program & Community Support:
- Provide transportation for clients to access services and appointments
- Interact professionally with staff, clients, and the public
- Support a respectful, collaborative team environment
Training & Development:
- Participate in training and development opportunities
- Work closely with supervisors and senior staff to build skills and independence
- Learn program standards, service delivery practices, and documentation
Crisis & Safety Awareness:
- Assist in responding to behavioral health situations using de-escalation techniques
- Follow safety protocols and consult with supervisors when needed
General Duties:
- Maintain documentation and case records
- Support daily program operations
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain Peer Support Certification (if required by program)
- Valid California Driver’s License (Class C)
- Must be engaged in personal wellness and recovery if a consumer
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and grow in a behavioral health setting
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Basic computer and documentation skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
