Gateway Foundation Corrections is dedicated to rebuilding the lives of incarcerated individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Peer Recovery Specialists are responsible for:• Providing support to the criminal justice involved client both while in-custody and post release• Serving as a role model by exhibiting long-term stable personal recovery and use of appropriate coping skills• Conducting group sessions and assisting clients with goals for recovery• Consulting with other treatment team members• Providing resources to assist with recovery and transition• Traveling throughout State to provide peer support services to clients in SUD treatment• Other duties as assigned
• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required• Former participant in a substance abuse treatment program and demonstrated long-term stable recovery• Therapeutic Community experience desired• Certified Missouri Recovery Support Specialist-Peer (MRSS-P ) as required by the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB) --- Can be obtained within the first six months of employment.• Current driver’s license and good driving record• Must be able to obtain Missouri Department of Corrections clearance
