Pemeqnakeon Mission Statement:

Pemeqnakeon is a trauma-informed program that focuses on building, and supporting the social emotional skills of our students through personalized lessons, and culture. We believe in taking a trauma informed and cultural approach, when it comes to accountability and restorative practices. Our mission is to provide our students with tools they need to become successful in, and out of school.

Description

Assumes responsibility to assist and carry out the Pemeqnakeon mission statement throughout all student, teacher, and family contact. Educator will assume all lead teacher responsibilities when it comes to student academics, scheduling, classroom communication with teachers, write ups, and other documentation. The lead teacher is responsible for teaching students SEL, while also providing them positive coping strategies to use when it comes to being successful in the classroom. The lead teacher will work with the co-teachers as well as program coordinator when deciding to start students back in the classroom setting, and communicate changes with teachers as well as building administrators. Lead teacher will work closely with other teachers and program support staff within the Pemeqnakeon Program. Must abide by all MISD and building policies.

Duties:

  • Create student schedules with the Program Coordinator

  • Provide classroom academics (be in constant communication with classroom teachers)

  • Teach individualized SEL lessons to students

  • Promote culture and be familiar with the Seven Grandfather Teachings

  • Provide classroom management and structure within the program

  • Flexibility to work within both programs at KPS and MIMS

  • Provide classroom supports and push ins

  • Document incidents and report them to the Program Coordinator

  • Work with the Program Coordinator

  • Drive/attend community events and trips with students

Qualifications:

  • Hold or is eligible for a Valid Wisconsin teaching license elementary/middle level education

  • CPI certified (or willing to become certified)

  • First Aid certified (or willing to become certified)

  • Willingness to be placed on the transportation driver list

  • Strong background in Trauma-informed education

  • Strong background/understanding of the Menominee culture
