POSITION/TITLE:  PEO I
 
WORK LOCATION: Mt. Sterling, OH
 
POSITION REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor
 
WORK TYPE:  ON SITE
 
JOB SUMMARY:
PEO’s are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the extruders and/or thermoformers in the machine room. PEO’s ensure that product quality and efficiencies are at or above standards and that operating scrap is kept to an absolute minimum.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs duties needed to operate production line as assigned, producing a variety of products varying in material combination, thickness and width.
  • Makes mechanical adjustments such as changing temperature and pressure, water pressure and temperature, equipment speeds and cycle times, and hydraulic pressure.
  • Replaces simple worn out or broken mechanical components.
  • Records such adjustments and changes.
  • Works with maintenance to assure that equipment is properly repaired and put back into production quickly when machines are down. Takes immediate action to clear machines and prepare for start-up after repairs are completed.
  • Continuously inspects lines for proper and safe operation and checks product quality and records readings.
  • Operates equipment including loading and unloading rolls and placing completed rolls in storage racks using lift truck.
  • Periodically cleans die lip and chrome rollers (extruder operator).
  • Maintains housekeeping standards by keeping a clean work area at all times.
  • Adheres to all good manufacturing practices (GMP), LOTO, food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements.
  • Rectify and/or report all non-compliance to Management or the SQF practitioner immediately.
  • Follows all safety procedures and participate in safety training. Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment and tools.
  • Monitors raw material storage levels using both manual silo readings and silo monitoring systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Competencies:
  • Previous machine operator experience preferred, but not necessary.
  • Must be able to use basic math skills, create simple drawings, and use some measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, weight scales, measuring tapes and multimeters to check fuses.
  • Must have good mechanical ability and manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to successfully complete forklift training, silo level monitoring, and fire extinguisher training.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English in order to carry out instructions and communicate with others as needed.

High School Diploma or GED

  • Team Member will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
  • Team Member will be required to observe and assess information in a fast paced environment.
  • Requires frequent use of a production, manufacturing equipment and/or machinery.
  • Will be required to frequently move/transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds which may require frequent bending, twisting and reaching motions.
  • Team Member may be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Team Member may be required to stand for long periods up to 8, 10 or 12 hours shifts.
  • Team Member may be required to talk, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.

WORK ENVIRONMENT (Manufacturing Plant):

The characteristics listed below are representative of the work environment typically encountered by an individual while performing the essential duties of a position in our manufacturing plants.  Note that office positions located within our Manufacturing Plants often require some plant floor presence throughout the day so these work environment details may not always apply, they should still be noted.  
  • Work space is one that contains moving mechanical parts.
  • Requires work in an indoor manufacturing environment that may be exposed to extreme heat that is not air conditioned.
  • Work environment contains loud noises and odors that may last for long periods of time or on a continual basis as well as occasional airborne particles.
  • Must wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards at all times.
  • Ability to work an 8+, 10+ or 12+ hour shifts as designated.
  • Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as designated.
