Position Summary

The People & Culture Intern will work alongside the People & Culture team while gaining practical, hands-on experience in the Human Resources profession within the live entertainment and hospitality industry. Through mentorship, structured learning, and participation in departmental initiatives, the intern will gain exposure to Learning & Development, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, Organizational Development, Compliance, and Human Resources Operations. This internship is designed to complement academic learning by providing meaningful professional experiences that develop communication, critical thinking, project management, and leadership skills while fostering an understanding of the strategic role People & Culture plays in organizational success.

Internship Details:

  • 30-32 hours per week

Learning Objectives:

The People & Culture Internship is designed to provide meaningful exposure to the People & Culture profession through experiential learning, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration. By the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have developed a foundational understanding of core People & Culture functions while strengthening the professional competencies necessary for a successful career in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Hospitality, or related fields.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Gain exposure to the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee development, engagement, recognition, and offboarding.
  • Learn how Learning & Development programs are designed, coordinated, delivered, and evaluated to support organizational success.
  • Observe how People & Culture professionals partner with leaders to support employee engagement, organizational culture, and workplace effectiveness.
  • Develop an understanding of employment laws, workplace policies, confidentiality requirements, and ethical Human Resources practices.
  • Learn how HR technology, reporting tools, and workforce analytics support organizational decision-making.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, planning sessions, and special projects to better understand the strategic role of People & Culture.

This role pays an hourly rate of $18.00

This role is expected to last from October 5, 2026, and will end on January 8, 2027

This position will remain open until December 4, 2026.

About the Venue

The award-winning Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) welcomes meeting and event planners, exhibitors, and attendees to Miami Beach and Miami. Reimagined following a $640-million-dollar renovation, the MBCC provides a world-class, state-of-the-art event venue for exceptional conferences, conventions, tradeshows, and meetings. The new 800-room, connected Grand Hyatt Miami Beach is under development and slated to open in late 2027. A LEED Silver-certified green building, the venue includes a magnificent Grand Ballroom, 500,000 square feet of flexible exhibition halls, 4 junior ballrooms, outdoor terraces & parks, and 84 breakout rooms. The MBCC's immediate proximity to lively South Beach, Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive, and many other Miami Beach cultural arts attractions make it an ideal venue for your next event.

Responsibilities

Learning & Development

  • Assist with preparing training materials, presentations, communications, and learning resources.
  • Assist with coordinating employee orientations, workshops, leadership development sessions, and training programs.
  • Support training attendance tracking, evaluations, and reporting while learning how organizations measure learning effectiveness.
  • Gain exposure to instructional design, adult learning principles, and organizational development strategies.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Assist with interview scheduling, candidate communications, and onboarding preparation.
  • Support new hire orientation activities and employee onboarding initiatives.
  • Learn the recruitment lifecycle, including workforce planning, candidate selection, and onboarding best practices.

Employee Engagement & Organizational Culture

  • Assist with employee recognition, wellness, volunteers, engagement, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Participate in planning employee events and activities that promote collaboration, inclusion, and employee experience.
  • Learn how employee engagement strategies contribute to retention and organizational success.
  • Create Employee Communication and flyers for the local team.

Employee Relations

  • Observe how People & Culture professionals provide guidance to employees and leaders while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Gain exposure to performance management, workplace policies, coaching conversations, and employee support processes.
  • Learn the importance of confidentiality, ethics, professionalism, and trust within Human Resources.

Compliance & HR Operations

  • Develop an understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws, HR compliance, and organizational policies.
  • Gain exposure to Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee records management, and HR administrative processes.
  • Assist with preparing reports, presentations, communications, and documentation supporting People & Culture initiatives.

Key Learnings:

  • Training & Development: Master how to design learning materials, coordinate workshops, and measure program impact using adult learning principles.
  • Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Learn the complete recruitment lifecycle by managing candidate communications, interview schedules, and new hire setups.
  • Culture & Engagement: Gain experience building workplace community by designing team flyers and planning events that boost employee retention.
  • Employee Relations: Understand how HR professionals handle performance management, coaching conversations, and workplace policies with strict confidentiality.
  • HR Operations & Compliance: Develop high-demand technical skills by using HRIS software and navigating federal, state, and local employment laws.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Interns must be currently enrolled as students at an accredited institution, which may include trade schools, community/junior colleges, or undergraduate or graduate programs.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Technology Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Working knowledge of Canva for creating presentations, communications, training materials, and other visual content.
  • Ability to learn Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and other People & Culture technology platforms. (Preferred)
  • Internet proficiency and familiarity with standard office technology.
