Job Title: People Partner, Benefits and Payroll

Location: Houston, Texas or St. Louis, Missouri

Workplace: Hybrid - 3 days onsite

About the Role

Our client, a commercial real estate organization, is looking for a People Partner, Benefits & Payroll to join their Human Resources team. They are seeking a People Operations professional with strong benefits and payroll specialization who can provide companywide impact through accurate administration, responsive team member support, and process efficiency. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, highly detail and deadline-oriented, and bring practical knowledge of benefits administration, payroll processes, and HR systems.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys owning key benefits and payroll processes, improving team member experience, building scalable practices across the People Operations function, and leveraging AI tools to drive efficiency and continuous process improvement.

This is a hybrid role, 3 days onsite in their Houston, Texas or St. Louis, Missouri locations.

Responsibilities

Benefits, Payroll & HRIS Administration:

  • Administer team member benefits programs, including enrollments, life events, eligibility updates, and team member support.
  • Support annual open enrollment planning, team member communications, and coordination with brokers and carriers.
  • Serve as a key contact for team member questions related to medical, dental, vision, retirement, leave, and other benefit programs.
  • Responsible for payroll processing, audits, reporting, and issue resolution in partnership with Payroll and Accounting.
  • Partner with accounting team for backend payroll reporting, tax requests, payroll filings, and resolving any requests.
  • Maintain accurate team member records and support HRIS workflows, reporting, and process improvements, with experience in Rippling Workforce platform preferred.

Additional People Operations Support:

  • Partner with the head of People Operations to improve workflows, reporting, administrative efficiency, and responsible use of AI tools within HR systems and processes.
  • Pull and prepare team member, payroll, and benefits-related reports for People Operations, Accounting, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Support broader People Operations initiatives and provide backup assistance across the team as needed, such as:

o Company functions for team member morale

o Internal intranet site maintenance and updating as needed

o Companywide communication development

o Slide deck creation for quarterly calls, board materials, etc.

  • Understand and stay up to date with industry knowledge, trends, and market developments.
  • Provide ad-hoc support as needed and participate in projects as assigned.

Qualifications •

  • 3+ years of experience in People Operations/Human Resources, with meaningful exposure to benefits administration and payroll support
  • Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; experience in a multi-state or corporate environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of team member benefits, leave administration, payroll processes, and related compliance considerations
  • Strong systems aptitude, including Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms; Rippling Workforce platform experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain policies, payroll matters, and benefit programs clearly to team members
  • Detail-oriented problem solver with strong judgment, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to leverage AI tools responsibly to drive efficiency, improve accuracy, and streamline People Operations processes is required.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset and a strong service orientation
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, setting strong example of team member conduct
