Compensation: $101,177 – $136,588 per year
Location: Elko, NV 89801 (100% Onsite)

Overview of Opportunity
A leading hospital is seeking the expertise of a People Services Director to play a critical role in fostering a people-first culture that supports more than 200 dedicated employees. This is more than an HR leadership role. It is an opportunity to shape the future of healthcare in rural Nevada by nurturing a positive, engaged, and high-performing workforce.
With one highly functioning HR support professional as a direct report, this leader will serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership while maintaining hands-on oversight of day-to-day operations. Core Responsibilities
Strategic Advisory & Executive Partnership
Serve as the senior HR leader for the hospital and trusted strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team.
Partner with leaders across the organization to align workforce strategies with business, clinical, and operational goals.
Demonstrate the ability to influence leaders, drive organizational initiatives, and advise senior teams effectively.
Develop, monitor, and manage departmental budgets and HR-related expenditures.
Culture, Engagement & Professional Development
Lead employee engagement, retention, succession planning, and culture transformation initiatives across the facility.
Lead employee development, leadership development, and targeted training initiatives.
Provide expert coaching and guidance to leaders on performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
Analyze workforce metrics, HRIS trends, and workforce data to identify opportunities for improved engagement, retention, and operational effectiveness, converting insights into actionable plans.
Labor & Employee Relations
Oversee all labor relations activities, including the administration of collective bargaining agreements and building collaborative union partnerships.
Participate in and/or lead union negotiations, grievance management, and arbitration preparation.
Manage complex employee relations issues, leading objective and thorough investigations.
Utilize strong communication and conflict resolution skills to maintain a balanced, compliant, and supportive work environment.
Operations, Compliance & Sourcing
Direct recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and targeted retention efforts to support ongoing hospital staffing needs.
Manage day-to-day HR operations, ensuring strict compliance with labor laws, employment regulations, healthcare regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
Oversee essential HR functions including audits, reporting, documentation, leaves of absence (LOA), and accommodations.
Supervise, mentor, and develop the HR team (one direct report), fostering a positive, high-performance work environment.
Position Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree required. Preference is given to degrees in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
Leadership Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.
Staff Supervision: Proven experience directly supervising and developing HR staff.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-To-Haves)
Healthcare Context: Acute care hospital experience is strongly preferred; healthcare HR leadership experience supporting hospitals or healthcare systems with 100+ employees.
Labor Relations Depth: Direct union experience is strongly preferred, including administering collective bargaining agreements, participating in or leading union negotiations, and handling grievances/arbitrations.
Industry Credentials: Professional HR Certifications (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR).
Strategic & Tech Capabilities: Experience leading culture transformation/engagement initiatives, workforce planning, and working with HRIS and workforce analytics.
Geographic Familiarity: Experience navigating the unique workforce and operational dynamics of a rural healthcare environment.
