Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Tray Assembly Worker supports patient nutrition services by preparing, assembling, and delivering meal trays while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service. Responsibilities include setting up and stocking tray assembly stations, assisting patients with menu selections, assembling and distributing meals according to prescribed diets, delivering snacks, and collecting meal trays. This role also supports dishwashing, pot washing, housekeeping, and general kitchen operations to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient food service environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced team setting while providing excellent service to patients and staff.

Salary Range: $21.57/hr.

  • Experience in food service, preferably including tray assembly, meal delivery, or patient food service.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to accurately identify food items and menu selections.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to perform simple calculations without a calculator.
  • Basic knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets, or the ability to learn them.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to interact professionally with patients, coworkers, medical staff, supervisors, and management.
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance and adhere to departmental dress code requirements.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, stretch, reach, walk, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift, move, and push heavy food carts and other equipment as required.
  • Willingness to attend and successfully complete required departmental training.
