The City of San Mateo Parks & Recreation Department is looking for caring, enthusiastic, team-oriented, creative and energetic individuals to join our preschool team!
The Position:

This position provides leadership in daily program operations and supports high-quality services and a welcoming environment for staff, participants, and their families. This role serves a variety of preschool programs for ages 2-5yrs. Teachers are dedicated to providing a safe environment for each child to grow emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually, and are committed to supporting families and children by following developmentally appropriate practices. This is a part-time position in the morning hours and is limited to 1,000 hours in a fiscal year.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have at least one year of paid experience in a classroom setting and have a minimum of a high school diploma, 6 Early Childhood Education units and be 18 years or older. Applicants must demonstrate leadership skills, experience working with youth, and strong verbal and written communication abilities. The position requires working independently while following direction from the Program Specialist or Lead Teacher, as well as the ability to assist with training and mentoring team members. Attention to detail is essential, including maintaining accurate records and required documentation. Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary. Availability is required Monday through Friday from August through June between the hours of 8:00am-12:30pm.
