Join Our Team as a Security Officer at Brigham & Women''s Hospital

Are you passionate about safety, service, and making a meaningful impact in a healthcare environment? Brigham & Women''s Hospital is seeking dedicated Security Officers to help ensure a safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

About the Role

As a Security Officer, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a secure hospital environment by patrolling assigned areas, responding to incidents, and supporting both safety and patient care. You'll be part of a team that values professionalism, integrity, and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol hospital grounds and facilities, with special attention to areas with known security concerns.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or improperly secured property to prevent theft, injury, or damage.
  • Respond to and investigate complaints, potential criminal activity, and safety incidents.
  • Assist in restraining patients when necessary and respond to medical emergencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate logs.
  • Dispatch security personnel using integrated security systems.
  • Support dignitary protection, traffic control, and workplace/domestic safety situations.
  • Participate voluntarily in departmental committees and initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.

A current Massachusetts driver's license

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.

Patient Care Involvement:

Yes - this role includes direct support in patient-related situations, including emergency response and behavioral health interventions.

Experience

Experience in hospital, security/police, emergency medical or customer services preferred 3-5 years preferred

  • Ability to deal with and effectively deescalate anxious/stressed people and manage aggression.

  • Demonstrates the understanding of community policing, risk analysis and crime prevention concepts and practices.
  • Strong writing skills to provide and maintain documentation to support data.
  • Intermediate computer skills: typing and use of database software.
