Overview Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care UBHC established in 1971 offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children adolescents adults and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHCs 1060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment prevention and education. UBHC one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country has a budget of 260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include inpatient outpatient partial hospitalization screening crisis stabilization familycaregiver support community outreach and case management supportive housing supported employment prevention and consultation employee assistance programs and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police veterans active military teachers mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016 UBHC treated 16199 consumers had 24502 admissions and touched the lives of 19441 individual callers through peer support. In addition UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services Children and Families and Corrections delivering 16000 trainings each year.

Posting Summary Rutgers The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Per diem Staff RN in the Addictions Program within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. The Staff Nurse provides nursing services and participates in the delivery of individualized goal directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process in accordance with departmental and program policies and procedures and all regulatory requirements. The Staff Nurse functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team participates in quality improvement activities educational activities and supports research endeavors. The role is consistent with the scope and standards outlined by the American Psychiatric Nurses Association for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.

Among the key duties of this position are the following Assesses and diagnoses individual served family and significant other needs in order to provide quality care to assigned individual served. Collaborates with treatment team individuals served family and significant other in the development of individualized treatmentrecovery plan of care as clinically indicated and in compliance with all regulatory timelines. Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement the plan of care nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care and safety of the individual served. Evaluates progress toward attainment of expected outcomes on an as needed basis in order to meet the individual served and familysignificant other needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered. Utilizes evidence-based interventions and treatment specific to the diagnosis or problem. Maintains concurrent and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure quality care. Conducts phlebotomy and urine specimen collection.

Demonstrate strong clinical nursing specialty excellent communication skills must be PC literate with proficiency in word processing.

Physical Demands and Work Environment Ability to speak clearly and write proficiently. The ability to focus on the task at hand despite numerous interruptions. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and document into an electronic medical record while in the field. The employee spends much time driving walking standing bending and talking with individuals served in the community located throughout the region. Use of own vehicle for community outreach. Transport of individuals served in state vehicles. The employee can expect to lift up to 20 pounds. The work environment is predominantly in the community in individuals homes shelters soup kitchens and places where individuals congregate i.e. forests train stations under bridges etc.. Individual wellness checks and crisis intervention required. Subject to unpredictable situations crises to include behavioral medical substance use and psychiatric. Occasionally exposed to individuals exhibiting assaultive behaviors. Exposure to blood borne pathogens that requires use of personal protective equipment.
