Our client is a confidential ambulatory surgery center located in the North Brunswick, NJ area, committed to delivering safe, high-quality outpatient surgical care in a collaborative clinical environment. They are now looking for a Per Diem Sterile Processing Technician.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$35/hr - $42/hr

Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable Per Diem Sterile Processing Technician to support daily surgical operations by ensuring proper cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment. This role is essential to maintaining patient safety, infection control standards, and smooth operating room workflows.

Responsibilities of the Per Diem Sterile Processing Technician:
  • Clean, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and store surgical instruments and trays.
  • Operate and monitor washers, sterilizers, and low-temperature sterilization systems.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage.
  • Prepare case carts and pick supplies for scheduled surgical cases.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization logs and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, aseptic technique, and safety standards.
  • Stock and rotate sterile supplies and check expiration dates.
  • Coordinate instrument repair and preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Work in both clean and soiled areas using required PPE.
  • Communicate effectively with OR and PACU staff to support case flow.
Required Experience/Skills for the Per Diem Sterile Processing Technician:
  • Sterile Processing Technician certification or enrollment in a certification program.
  • Prior experience processing surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Knowledge of sterilization methods, infection control, and aseptic technique.
  • Ability to follow protocols and maintain detailed records.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Per Diem Sterile Processing Technician:
  • Ambulatory surgery center or hospital sterile processing experience.
  • Experience with case picking and OR inventory support.
  • Familiarity with multiple surgical specialties.
Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Sterile Processing certification or completion within the required timeframe.
