Per Diem Translators/Interpreters - July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027

The Public of Brookline is seeking translators/interpreters to provide oral and written services for families whose primary language is not English. We are currently in need of speakers of the following languages: Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Arabic, Hebrew, Vietnamese, and Russian. Translators/interpreters would be contacted on an as needed basis. Most interpreter services are required between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. Some evenings may be necessary. Translation services are to be completed outside of contractual work hours. When possible, 1-2 weeks advance notice is given to all translators/interpreters. The rate is $20.00 an hour for oral interpretation services and $45.00 an hour for written translations.

Additional Requirements:

• Oral and written fluency in English and another language (Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Arabic, Hebrew, Vietnamese, and Russian).
• Availability between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday for interpreter assignments. Some evenings may be necessary.
• Familiarity with the American school system.
