JOB INFORMATION

This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments for applied lessons as a Percussion instructor. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on department need. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads, learns, understands, and complies with the expectations set out in the

current Faculty Handbook, especially the Teaching and Learning Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned classes following approved course outline, prepares and

develops materials for assigned classes, provides students and college with course

syllabi

• Provides a classroom environment conducive to learner growth in a variety of

delivery ways (lecture, demonstration, etc.)

• Maintains student records of grades and attendance
• Keeps current on technological changes, developments in subject area, and

innovative teaching techniques

• Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity,

and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity in the workplace

• Promotes and applies the colleges values for teaching and learning, creates a

learning climate of mutual respect and fairness, encourages creative and critical

thinking, actively engages students in the learning process, facilitates learning that is

relevant to and enriches students, encourages mutual responsibility for a supportive

learning environment, clarifies expectations and encourages student responsibility

for learning, and promotes learning as a life-long process

• Performs other related duties as directed

• Teaches classes as assigned, following current approved course outlines

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

A Masters degree in Percussion from an accredited institution

• -OR--

A Masters degree in Music with an emphasis in Percussion from an accredited institution

• -OR--

Equivalent experience defined as more than five years of paid professional

experience in the field of music as a Percussion instructor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience Teaching Percussion Lessons
• Experience Teaching Percussion Lessons at the College Level
• Experience Teaching Music Courses at a Community College

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
• This position belongs to the non-bargaining unit and begins at Step 1. Please refer to current salary schedules here for more information.
• All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.

• Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.
