The Trauma Registrar/Performance Improvement (PI) Nurse works with the Trauma Data Analyst to maintain the Trauma Registry according to ACS-COT and OCEMS requirements. The Trauma Registrar/PI Nurse is responsible for accurate retrieval, compilation, registration, submission and presentation of clinical study data and provides analytical support to Mission Hospital trauma services operations and patient care delivery. Participates in clinical education for physicians, nurses and pre-hospital personnel, as well as education to the public. Utilizes coding knowledge to abstract data from patient records for analysis and trending. This position is intended to help enhance operational function and efficiency, quality of care, and to support the overall trauma performance improvement program at Mission Hospital.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Completed ICD-10 course upon hire.
  • Upon hire: California Registered Nurse License
  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
  • 3 years Clinical experience caring for trauma patients in ICU's or ED's.
  • Proven track record of working effectively in a flexible work environment with a results-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s Degree in Nursing/Administration, Hospital or Health Services Administration, or Business Administration.
  • Coursework/Training: Trauma Outcomes Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC).
  • Complete one of two AIS courses within 12 months of hire and complete the second course within 24 months of hire.
  • Project coordination experience encompassing operations analysis, outcomes measurements methodology, data management and system quality improvement.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate''s placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
