# Job Description

Adelantes Performing Arts Teacher is passionate about teaching and programs that build a long-term love of fine art in students. The Performing Arts Teacher holds primary responsibility for teaching Performing Arts and developing and managing enrichment programs that extend the curriculum. The Performing Arts Teacher is passionate about designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate art program in a classroom setting that instills core habits that help students succeed academically. This could include music, band, choir, dance, theater, and more.

## Specific Responsibilities

  • Researches, designs, and/or documents standards and curricula for general Performing Arts.
  • Teaches multiple sections of general Performing Arts each day.
  • Works with other fine arts colleagues to design, supervise, and implement all aspects of the schools general Performing Arts program, including:
  • Coordinating with outside providers and vendors.
  • Maintaining records.
  • Participating in required training and certification processes, etc.
  • Works with classroom teachers to ensure the integration of academic instruction and Performing Arts instruction, particularly for the schools ELA (reading) curriculum.
  • Participates in the collaborative curriculum development process.
  • Provides consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior to ensure that students observe the schools core values, high expectations, and code of conduct.
  • Shares responsibility for grade-level and school-wide activities.
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Engages families in their students education, including involving families in periodic student art exhibits.
  • Participates actively in department meetings, faculty meetings, and other meetings, including an annual three-week summer staff orientation and training.
  • Provides appropriate supervision of students during class breaks, meals, specials, and transitions to maintain an optimal work environment and to ensure students safety and well-being.
  • Assists in coordinating the schools celebrations and Community Meetings.
  • Attends and participates in events outside of normal school hours (e.g., family nights, student performances, field trips, report card nights, Teacher-Parent Conferences, etc.).
  • Consistently demonstrates belief in and alignment with Adelantes core values and educational philosophy.
  • Assists in the purchase of the schools Performing Arts equipment and materials.
  • Monitors and maintains the schools Performing Arts equipment and materials.
  • Plays a vital role in supporting the schools academic programming, such as a pull-out reading teacher or in-class support.
  • Supports other academic programming throughout the school.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Masters degree is preferred.
  • Valid Indiana State certification or proof of reciprocal licensure in a different state is required.
