Education and Certification
Education - Bachelor's degree from an accredited Perfusion program required.
Certification/License: Must have the following at time of hire/transfer - Cert Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) and Licensed Perfusionist (PERFUSIO) - Texas Medical Board.
Experience
Experience - 1-2 Years of intermediate level Perfusion experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities
The Perfusionist provides patient care in the form of operation of the extracorporeal circulation equipment during any medical situation where it is necessary to help or replace a person's cardiopulmonary, circulatory, or respiratory function.
Essential Functions of the Role
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and biology.
Knowledge of several cardiac disease, defects, and congenital anomalies.
Knowledge of sterile and perfusion supplies: extracorporeal oxygenators, tubing circuits, and cannulae for adult, pediatric, and infant patients.
Knowledge of arteries, veins, organs, and specific paths of blood flow throughout the body, of pressures, and gas exchange within the body adult, pediatric, and infant patients.
Knowledge of blood components, plasma composition of the human body, and use of blood products in association with support by extracorporeal circuits and devices.
Skill in operating extracorporeal circulation and autotransfusion equipment.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow orders, take directions, and implement written perfusion protocols.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively during operation of extracorporeal support devices and providing patient care.
Ability to learn and apply regulatory and accreditation standards and protocols that apply to operating room procedures and departmental policies and protocols.
Ability to work and cooperate in a flexible manner in the delivery of patient care demonstrating a cohesive team approach.
Ability to react calmly in stressful situations.
