Perianesthesia Nurse 4-10s Full-Time *No Call, Nights, Weekends, or Holidays!*

We will train motivated individuals with a strong work ethic to care for patients in the surgical setting. We offer a great team environment with people who thrive in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center. We provide flexible shifts and part-time or full-time hours. We are staffing positions to cover our hours Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. No nights, weekends, or call! 4-10s and no holidays.

Job Description and Duties:

Pre-Operative Duties

1. Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel
2. Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care
3. Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
4. Assists in the inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the preoperative area
5. Maintains order and cleanliness of the preoperative area
6. Performs thorough preoperative patient assessment required in the outpatient setting
7. Assists in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient prior to admission
8. Provides preoperative instruction and explanation of patient rights and responsibilities
9. Describes the perioperative experience to the patient/significant other, including what to expect before, during, and after the procedure, and how the significant other will participate
10. Obtains pertinent patient records prior to patient’s arrival for preoperative testing
11. Performs all preoperative testing (i.e., laboratory work, electrocardiogram, x-rays, etc.)
12. Reports all abnormal values to the anesthesiologist/attending surgeon
13. Explains informed consent for surgery, patients’ rights/responsibilities, and preoperative/postoperative instructions
14.  Obtains necessary signatures
15. Informs patient about routine care and procedures related to the perioperative experience
16. Discusses all findings with the anesthesiologist prior to the anesthesiologist’s preoperative evaluation of patient
17.  Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and supports the patient’s right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
18. Documents preoperative care according to policy/procedure
19.  Ensures that the patient’s chart is complete on the day before surgery is scheduled
    
    

Recovery Duties

1. Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel for management of the recovery room
2. Organizes nursing activities efficiently, considering staff abilities when delegating activities
3. Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care
4. Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
5. Assists in managing inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the postoperative area
6. Maintains order and cleanliness of the postoperative area
7. Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative/postanesthesia period
8. Assesses and documents the patient’s physical and emotional status upon arrival in the recovery room
9. Documents postanesthesia care and identity of the second person in the recovery room during the patient’s recovery fromanesthesia/sedation according to approved policies and procedures
10. Provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered
11. Monitors patients and informs surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications
12. Performs thorough postoperative patient assessment prior to discharge of the patient
13. Assists in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient in preparation for discharge 
14. Develops a plan of care for the patient based on the assessment data
15. Reviews postoperative instructions and prescriptions from the surgeon with the patient and significant other and documents in the patient’s medical record
16. Informs patient and family about appropriate care and procedure to follow upon returning home
17. Determines that patient and significant other understand conditions that require immediate care/method to obtain immediate care
18. Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and promotes privacy and dignity
