The Perioperative Registered Nurse (OR Circulator) plays a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care within the surgical environment. Serving as the patient’s advocate throughout the perioperative experience, this role ensures that every procedure is performed with precision, safety, and excellence.
This position is ideal for both experienced OR nurses and those looking to grow into perioperative practice. You will work in a collaborative surgical setting where teamwork, clinical excellence, and patient advocacy are at the forefront of every interaction.
Serve as the patient advocate throughout the surgical experience
Deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care across all perioperative settings
Protect patient dignity, privacy, and rights at all times
Coordinate and oversee patient care during surgical procedures
Verify correct patient, procedure, site, and documentation at all times
Perform surgical counts to prevent retained surgical items
Safely administer medications and monitor patient response
Manage surgical specimens in accordance with policy, ensuring accurate labeling and tracking
Protect patients from surgical risks including chemical, electrical, thermal, and mechanical hazards
Monitor and maintain patient stability across all systems, including respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological
Prevent surgical site infections by adhering to sterile technique and safety protocols
Communicate patient status clearly and effectively with the surgical team and across the continuum of care
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members
Utilize strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to maintain a positive and efficient work environment
Maintain clinical competencies and pursue ongoing professional development
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and required educational programs
Deliver consistent, high-quality care across diverse patient populations and surgical settings
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oregon
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
CNOR certification preferred
Completion of Periop 101 program preferred
CRASE training preferred (required if assignment exceeds six months)
Previous OR circulator or scrub experience preferred
Strong multitasking ability in a fast-paced surgical environment
Excellent critical thinking and attention to detail
Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
Strong communication and teamwork skills
On-site position within a surgical setting
